In alignment with Governor Bill Lee’s Future Workforce Initiative, Tennessee is creating a suite of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) career awareness tools that will equip teachers with resources to help them prepare students for in-demand career fields.
To help ensure students are ready for success after high school graduation, Tennessee is making investments in resources that help ensure Tennessee’s middle and high school students are aware of the 16 College and Career Technical Education (CCTE) career clusters [tn.gov]
with job prospects across the state.
In preparation of launching our new Career Exploration and Advising Platforms, TSIN recruited 6 educational leaders to beta test the new platform, Elevate TN. To represent educators in differing roles, the leaders come from a variety of roles including teachers, assistant principals, and counselors representing middle and high schools across the state. Elevate TN is works in alignment with Gov. Lee's future workforce initiative, provides teachers and students with resources and support from the classroom to the workforce. The Elevate TN Ambassadors spent 2-months diving into the platform by completing and testing courses that are offered and then further creating a cross-walk aligned with state practices of English Language Arts, Science/Engineering, and Math. Access the crosswalks here: Career Prep, Consumer Math, CyberSmart, Workplace Foundations for Leadership. The Ambassadors also spent time exploring the platform in great detail by reviewing career videos and resources, then providing detailed feedback to the TSIN team.
Michael Cumberledge states, "Elevate TN is a great resource for middle and high school aged students. This resource helps build work-based skills and provides basic training to the students. Utilizing this program in schools on a regular basis will help our students become ready for a variety of careers right out of high school."
"Elevate TN is a tremendous resources to supplement curriculum and help students make real world connections,” reports Karen Stanish.
