Introduce Students to STEM Careers with Learning Blade

Start the school year right by exposing your students to high-demand STEM and Computer Science careers! TSIN is pleased to provide Learning Blade’s online STEM career awareness platform for all middle schools in the state. The platform contains 200+ hours of interactive STEM and Computer Science activities to show your students how these careers and technologies solve human-centered problems. Students can select from 400 online, engaging lessons, while educators have access to lesson plans for hands-on projects.

Mount Pleasant STEM Director, Kate Finn, recognizes the power of career connections which is why she initiated the push for Mount Pleasant to integrate Learning Blade as a new program this year. She notes, “Learning Blade provides students a great way to explore various STEM careers while engaging them in game-based learning, which promotes literacy and problem-solving skills. Learning Blade helps to connect careers to the standards students are learning.” Executive Principal of the Mount Pleasant Campus, Dr. Ryan Jackson, adds, “ Personalized learning is one of the hallmarks that sets Mount Pleasant and our STEAM campus apart from other schools and districts. Learning Blade provides the platform and serves as a catalyst for our students on their personalized learning journey.”

Entire districts such as Shelby County Schools have successfully used Learning Blade and integrate lessons into their unit plans to enhance career relevance, providing students connections to 21st century STEM careers. Shelby County School Director of STEM, Dedric McGhee, believes students need career relevance in their school day, “ Shelby County Schools is committed to increasing awareness of STEM careers to all students. We have increased industry certifications by 15% and currently focusing on further increasing industry certifications by 75%. Learning Blade provides students with career awareness, because students cannot be what they don't see.”

The Tennessee STEM Innovation Network (TSIN) has provided Learning Blade® to offer middle school students more opportunities for STEM and Computer Science career awareness. Receive your school’s free account by registering at www.LearningBlade.com/TN .
