MakerMinded, a new program designed to increase student interest in advanced manufacturing, officially launched in Tennessee this month! Throughout this week and next, students throughout the state will be participating in three launch events to kick-off the MakerMinded campaign.
Overall, the students were excited to try the virtual reality programs and were thrilled to learn that their school could win a virtual reality cart for becoming one of the top scoring MakerMinded schools. “Each student seemed to thoroughly enjoy each [virtual reality] station because they all seemed tangible and the attention to detail was impressive. The paint that had worn off on the roller coaster, the texture of the leather in the car, the cavities in the heart, and the many obstacles in the Vive video game. Overall, this was a wonderful experience,” said another Cookeville High School student.
For their participation in the event, Cookeville High School is now in first place in the MakerMinded leaderboard. Check out tn.MakerMinded.com to participate in upcoming activities and join them at the top!
MakerMinded launches in West Tennessee on Friday, October 21 st at the University of Memphis E-Day and in East Tennessee at Chattanooga’s Creative Discovery Museum on Tuesday, October 25th. Contact Evan Curran at currane@battelle.org to RSVP to either event.
