The KARST Hub is now STEMspark East Tennessee Innovation Hub

On a sunny morning this week at Knoxville’s L&N STEM Academy, area leaders in business and education met to discuss the region’s STEM strengths and then unveil the new name and logo for the TSIN’s Regional STEM Innovation Hub. Kathleen Airhart, Tennessee’s Deputy Commissioner of Education, delivered a summary of the state’s STEM Strategic Plan before joining L&N Principal Becky Ashe and Knox County Schools Superintendent Jim McIntyre in the big reveal.

And the new name is … STEMspark East Tennessee Innovation Hub . The STEMspark Hub is led by former city coucilwoman Marilyn Roddy, who is charged with connecting local STEM resources to needs and growing the reach of the Network in the East Tennessee region.

After the big reveal came the ceremonial signing of the Memoranda of Understanding (or MOUs). Local business and education partners committed to join in the Hub’s efforts to provide the next generation of Tennesseans with a 21st century education.

Pasco was on hand with refreshments, and participants were treated to a tour of the STEM Academy by L&N students. We are looking forward to great things from STEMspark, L&N STEM Academy and the Knoxville region.
